anyway i was back from Italy for almost a week, so it's about time to get my-lazy-self to write something about it. (photos courtesy of my travel mates)
I was in Italy for about a week with 7 other people from school. Although 7/8 of us have connection with Singapore, only 3 people in the group actually hold a Singaporean passport. Singapore is truly an International city i guess.
Anyway we travelled from north to south in this order.
Milan -> Venice -> Florence -> Pisa -> Rome -> Naples -> Palermo
There isn't much thing to do in Milan if you (and coincidentally, most of us including me) are not into shopping, so we just spent half a day there and tried our first gelato (click me)
One of the gelato shop somewhere in Italy [more like i can't remember which city this is from]. Gelato is a daily routine in Italy.Venice is the best period
It's my favourite city in the whole trip. I like it because of the atmosphere, the scenery, the feel etc... I won't mind walking aimlessly on the street of Venice for days, since I really enjoy the slow moving lifestyle the Venetians have.
Piazza San Marco

It's the most famous spot for drinking coffee in Venice, because you can sit there, relax, and watch the crowd goes by. The peacefulness you experience is just great. But at a price of 4.50 Euro per cup, peacefulness indeed is not something accessible to everyone.
Gondola

Some graffiti we saw in Venice

left / top: water bus station (the yellow thing)
right / bottom: normal bus stn (connecting to the mainland)

apparently, both the water bus and normal bus are operated by the same company, and apparently, the company planned for a strike the day after we left Venice... how unromantic...
As a person who doesn't know how to appreciate art, (unless anime and manga are considered a form of modern art), Florence is average.
The whole group at Florence

Pisa is about leaning tower, and so...
the "leaning" tower of Pisa

The world is indeed small, we met this group of LSE year 1 Singaporeans in Florence, Here in Pisa, we saw them again miraculously!

Next is Rome and Vatican City, we went to quite a few places in Rome, such as some Roman ruins, some Duomo (click me), catacombs (click me) etc [haha I'm trying to be lazy by using wikipedia and not giving my own explanations]
but anyway, left / top: Roman ruins, right / bottom: Vatican City

Those who have been to Naples will agree with me that there isn't much to see in the city, and you won't want to stay in the city area for too long, since it's supposed to be a crime-ridden town. We came here for a ruin called Pompeii (click me), which is half an hour away from Naples main train station by local train. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we missed the closing time of 3.30pm by 10 min...... so we couldn't get in......
we went to another place called Sorrento (click me) instead, which is a nice seaside town.
we were back to Naples train station at night to take the overnight train to Palermo, Sicily Island.
Buying our train tickets at the stubborn self service machine. Sadly, the train tickets costs more than our single air fare from London to Italy

Palermo is our last stop in Italy, it's a time when we bid farewell to the (relatively) warm and sunny Italy and to return to the reality of freezing London. How else could we enjoy the (relatively) warm weather of Italy other than going to the seaside and...

throw some stones?
Since we were taught in some subject in JC that we must have a conclusion when we writes, here we go...
anyway this ends our trip in Italy. I must say that this is and will be the best part of my December holidays. Overall, it's fun, but what really makes it fun is, IMHO, the people I travelled with, since they are all nice to go with and joke with. (and we played bridge in almost all train journey that we took)
Enjoy your class outing tonight :)
